Origin’s Commitment to Sustainable Practices: Carma

Posted on4th April 2024 By Jack Copeland 15 Mins

Origin’s purpose is to bring life home through the safety of our packaging. But, alongside this, our purpose is also to protect our home by increasing our sustainable practices.

Did you know that, according to National Geographic, Western Europe has gone from 80% forest cover to 34%?

As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, Origin is proud to partner with Carma.

Origin & Carma

Carma is a company rooted in the principles of genuine environmental change and human well-being. Their primary mission is to plant trees in the UK and overseas, regenerate forests around the world and support veterans with meaningful employment.

For UK planting, Carma works with the Green Task Force: they work to find employment for Veterans and implement Nature Based Therapy to overcome PTSD issues whilst focusing on post-traumatic growth.

Overseas, Carma partners with Veritree. Veritree uses blockchain technology: each tree is photographed, tagged, and monitored. Likewise, they focus on planting trees in rainforests worldwide whilst also supporting local communities.

Our Sustainable Practices

Alongside Carma, we’re dedicated to building a sustainable future and environment for all.

Origin published the Environmental Positioning policy recently, which details our methods, materials, and activities to improve our sustainability.

We will continue to take a holistic approach to sustainability, firm in our belief that a considered policy – focusing on designing eco-friendly principles into our processes and prioritising long-term sustainability over short-term wins – will reap the greatest rewards for our people, customers and the environment. Furthermore, we are committed to doing the right thing – not appearing to do the right thing.

You can download the full policy here.

Bringing Life Home

We commit to driving innovation in packaging design and managed supply that reduces environmental impact without compromising product quality or integrity.

Trees are one of the best assets in combating climate change, absorbing and storing harmful carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and releasing clean, breathable oxygen into the air.

Subsequently, our partnership with Carma will help plant more trees and provide purposeful work.
